Prepping for Tubers

Yesterday at UGArden, we worked on prepping one of our newly spaced fields for planting potatoes! So far organic matter has been spaded into the field with a tractor. We used a spader instead of a tiller to limit the process of a hard pan forming underground, but still allows us to loosen the soil for optimum planting conditions. We also added feather meal, which will be raked in. The potatoes will be planted after curing this week.
